I'm a long time resident of San Francisco and the city figures prominently in my writing.
There is no other place quite like it in the world and I like to make it the backdrop of many of my novels both contemporary and historical.
I write mostly about women falling in love. It's both a universal experience and unique to each person. My characters will find out a lot about themselves as they undergo this experience. I am a believer in personal growth through adversity. Humans are flawed and marvelous creatures. It's fun to take them on fictional journeys that usually involve real life contexts such as the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire or the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s. We are products of our environments. Where we live and what we go through has an impact on us for better or worse.
